Finding Your Motivation

It was less than a year ago that I was thinking up every excuse in the book to not exercise.

‘It’s too hot.’

‘It’s too cold.’

‘I’m hungry.’

‘I just ate.’

‘I’m too tired.’

Now – 30 pounds lost, you can catch me every Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m. instructing my very own Zumba class!

How it all started…

Back in 2010, I lost two very important people in my life within an 8 week time period. After that I gained 40 pounds. Clothes weren’t fitting anymore, and I found myself shying away at family/friend functions, not wanting to take pictures. I knew what I looked like – I didn’t need it documented in a picture that would eventually end up on Facebook for the world to see!

I had been a member of Piranha since the spring of 2012, but would only attend a Zumba class every now and then. The only motivation I had back then was picking out where my next meal was going to come from – oh, the money spent on fast food!

It wasn’t until I saw myself in our family Christmas card that I thought, ‘This is getting out of control. I need to do something about it.’ I didn’t like the person I had let myself become. I vowed to myself that 2013 was going to be my year!

In this blog series I will reminisce on the last seven months of my 30-pound weight loss journey, as well as share my future plans to live a healthy and active lifestyle. I hope that by me sharing my story with you – the current, former and future clients of Piranha Fitness Studio, that I can help you find your motivation to get back in the studio or stay in the studio! We’re on this journey together!
