Megaformer Classes
Lagree Classes at Piranha Fitness
The patented Megaformer machine is one unrivaled not only in the variety of ways it can be used to shape and form the muscles but also the variety of emotions it elicits from students during every class. It targets muscles in a new and unparalleled way, combining moves that equate to sweating, shaking, fat burning, and muscle forming, guaranteed to make you feel empowered and strong at the end of class.
Benefits of Megaformer:
- Increased muscular strength and endurance
- Increased cardiovascular efficiency
- Increased metabolic rate
- Increased bone density
- Improved posture and alignment
- Improves stabilizing muscle strength and performance
The machine has its similarities to the Pilates Reformer, but the differences are what sets it apart. It has cut outs and handles that allow for minuscule changes in form and positioning, allowing you to target very specific muscles that are otherwise missed. Moves are familiar such as lunges, crawling, planks, and standing movements but are amplified by the equipment. Because the machine’s platform is spring loaded and momentum free, even resting poses require muscle tension and activation, making for a non-stop workout throughout the class duration.
What Can You Expect in a Megaformer Class?
These workouts focus on slow, zero-impact yet high-intensity movements that target slow-twitch muscle fibers. These types of movements create long, lean, endurance building muscles that are thinner, all while burning fat. Classes are typically 45 min to one hour, burning up to 800 calories. Intensity can be adjusted up or down to modify the workout to fit your fitness level.
Tips for your first class:
- Wear form-fitting pants (leggings) and a form-fitting top, to avoid anything getting caught in the machine.
- Grip socks are required. We have a few options for you when you arrive.
- Bring water.
- Don’t worry if you are a beginner, the instructor can help you get started and answer questions.
- Get to class early if you can, to meet with the teacher one-on-one and discuss your fitness level and learn how to adjust the springs.
