Jason's Story

Jason's Success Story

Jason's Success Story

My transformation story does not necessarily involve a huge amount of weight lost, any record-breaking weight lifting achievements, or even a completely different lifestyle. My success story with Piranha Fitness involves filling in some gaps that were in my life and how that helped me become more proud of my body.

First thing you need to know about me, I love being active! I have been involved in sports my whole life. I grew up playing baseball, basketball, football and lacrosse. I was fortunate enough to play lacrosse at Texas A&M University where I started all four years as goalie and was nominated as an All-American my junior year. Athletics continues to be a dominating force in my life as I am a P.E. teacher and coach full-time at a local private school.

After I graduated from A&M, keeping up with regular workouts became a challenge. I joined a regular gym where I would go in without a plan and ended up spending more of my time “resting” between sets than actually getting something accomplished. I also tried the home workout craze of P90X and enjoyed the challenge of the workouts along with the plan to follow, but I had trouble staying self-motivated for 90 days. I thought about joining a CrossFit gym several times but could never justify the outrageous cost of membership and didn’t want to get caught up in something where my competitive nature would force me to make poor decisions about what my body could handle.

I was never concerned about how much I weighed because it had never been an issue. I am however, aware of how I look and feel and have always tried to maintain an athletic body. At the start of 2013, I was at my heaviest weight ever. Again, the number did not bother me, but I was unhappy with how I looked and felt. I also realized a startling trend; I had gained about a pound per year since high school. Some of that could have been muscle growth, but most of it was not.

In the spring of 2013, my wife started at Piranha by taking Strike classes. She spoke very highly about the classes and the people at Piranha. As she started learning more about it, she was excited to tell me about Power Training.

“Power Training is a small group training program of high intensity workouts comprised of multi-functional bodyweight movements, resistance training and cardio. What you feel like and look like is the main focus.”

Sounded exactly what I was looking for! It checked off all of the boxes that I needed; functional movements, resistance training, cardio, group atmosphere, and that “all about how you look and feel mentality”.

Since starting Power Training last summer I have fallen in love with the workouts, the great group of people in class with me, and the constant support and encouragement from the Piranha staff.

I am now proud to call myself a Piranha trainer and feel blessed to be given such wonderful opportunities. I look forward to every workout and know that I will be challenged and supported along the way.

Power Training at Piranha has helped me fill in the gaps of my fitness goals to help me IMPROVE MYSELF! Thank you to everyone that has helped me along the way, especially my loving, supportive wife Ryanne… who you can find working out with me almost every day!
