Sarah's Success Story

I joined Piranha in January 2012 after encouragement from a close friend who was a member. When I started, I was wearing a size 14 and was an unhealthy weight. I had been unhappy with my weight and fitness level for quite some time but had been unmotivated to do anything about it. I was very fit in high school because I played three sports and was on two cheerleading teams. I never needed to schedule a workout, as I was active year-round. In college, I struggled with working out and couldn’t seem to find anything that I really enjoyed and could stick with long-term. Then I got married, and even though my husband works out consistently, I had no desire to do so. I could blame my job or being busy, but the truth of the matter is I simply didn’t want to make an effort.

My wakeup moment happened when I was shopping after Thanksgiving at Dillard’s. I was in one of the designer areas browsing through the clothes, and a saleslady stopped me and told me that there were bigger sizes in the back that she could get for me. I was upset at first, but then I realized that I needed to make a change in my life.

I am very grateful to the friend who pushed me join Piranha. I was hooked after my first Zumba class! I started attending classes in January 2012 anywhere from 3 – 5 times a week. By March, I had added Piloxing and Zumba Toning into my weekly routine. I continued on this track until March 2013. By that point, I had lost about 20 pounds and 2 pant sizes, but I wasn’t making as much progress as I wanted. Another close friend then encouraged me to become her “Fitness Pal.” We decided to monitor our food and sugar intake as well as step-up our workout game.

With that goal in mind, I joined Piranha Fitness On Demand, which has become one of my best decisions! I no longer have the excuse of not wanting to drive to the gym or class times not working for my schedule. In fact, I now only have an On Demand membership and love being about to work out anytime, anywhere! I increased my workouts to 5 – 6 times a week and added in some variation. My weekly workouts now include a combination of Piloxing, Zumba, Zumba Toning, Hip Hop Abs, running, body weight work, and 20 – 25 mile bike rides with my husband.

Since April 2013, I have lost another 25 pounds and am wearing sizes 4 – 6. I feel stronger and healthier than I ever have before, and I couldn’t have done it without Piranha Fitness Studio or the encouragement of my husband, family, and friends! My advice to those trying to get in shape is to find something that works for you that you can stick with, don’t attempt to change everything in your life at once, and surround yourself with people who support your goals!
